Awareness Forum on Prevention of Air Pollution in Asia Pacific

The EANET organizes this event from 25 to 27 June 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand as a sharing and learning platform.

The event consists of a two day Forum and one day Site Visit. Besides raising awareness, EANET also aims to enhance knowledge of the participants on air pollution. The Forum provides an opportunity for countries to share experience and at the same time, to gain specific content information that can strengthen their capacity.

OBJECTIVES 

  • To facilitate a sharing and learning platform across countries in solutions for tackling air pollution problems;
  • To generate important inputs to potential contribution of regional and international initiatives in supporting countries in the fight against air pollution;
  • To increase knowledge and understanding of Forum participants in managing air quality in the region. It includes understanding the pollution sources and measures, air quality monitoring and result interpretation, monitoring, solutions and evaluation of policies and regulations on air quality to measure its impact, designing and managing public information and awareness raising programmes on how to reduce exposure to air pollution.

 PARTICIPANTS 

  • Two representatives from each EANET participating countries involved in the policymaking process in their countries will be invited to attend the Awareness Forum on Prevention of Air Pollution in Asia Pacific.
  • One hundred Thailand provincial representatives will be invited to attend the Thailand Air Pollution Session.
  • The US State Department project on “Strengthening Air Quality Communities of Practice in the Asia-Pacific” will support participants to attend the Awareness Forum on Prevention of Air Pollution in Asia Pacific.

 PROGRAM AGENDA

The Forum will be organized at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC), Bangkok from 25-27 June 2019, consist of two-days indoor Forum and one-day site visit. The first day of the Regional Forum will be organized in parallel with Thailand Air Pollution Session, organized specifically for Thailand provincial officers and conducted in Thai. A site visit will be organized for EANET participants on day 3.
